About Us: Our Mission PDF Print E-mail
lown doctors

Heart disease is the number one killer in the United States today and soon will be the leading cause of death in the developing world. Models of treatment developed in the US emphasize expensive, invasive surgical procedures that are vastly over utilized at an enormous cost both in dollar terms and in emotional terms for patients and their families.

This expensive, hurried model of healthcare has alienated the patient from their doctors and ruptured the sacred bond of trust that once unified doctor and patient in a healing partnership.

The Lown Foundation's mission is to promote cardiovascular health through careful inquiry, education, and communication.

Through education and global outreach, the Lown Cardiovascular Foundation promotes a cost-effective model of treatment that advocates prevention over costly, invasive treatments and nurtures the bonds of trust and compassion between doctor and patient.

Our programs include innovative research projects, community-based health education initiatives and our global health communications program, ProCor.
