2011 Award Recipient: Kenyan-Heart National Foundation's RHD program

We are pleased to announce that the Kenyan-Heart National Foundation's (KHNF) rheumatic heart disease (RHD) prevention program has received the 2011 Louise Lown Heart Hero Award from ProCor and the Lown Cardiovascular Research Foundation. Through local initiatives and outreach efforts, the KHNF teaches thousands of people every year how to prevent RHD.

For more information please visit the ProCor website.

ProCor’s Louise Lown Heart Hero Award is given annually to celebrate and recognize innovative, preventive approaches to promoting cardiovascular health in developing countries and other low-resource settings.

Dr. Bernard Lown created the award in 2007 to honor his wife, Louise Lown, and her lifelong commitment to the rights and wellbeing of others through her work as a social worker, activist, and writer.

The annual award amount is US$2000.
