Sean Luitjens on the Road

The Boston Double for Sean started with some good-natured one-upmanship after meeting Bill while out running.

Luitjens, who has done over 185 triathlons, including ten Ironman Triathlons (which involve swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles, then running a 26.2-mile marathon) and many trail and ultra runs up to 100 miles, was challenged to do a local trail run.

From there the challenges ensued until Sean’s turn was the Boston Double several years ago. And from there he was hooked on the annual challenge.

Four years ago Sean’s tie to the fundraising aspect of the run was unexpectedly made tighter. After a couple of mid-training arrhythmia incidents, as well as increased night time issues, he sought professional help from Dr. John Mandrola of Cardiovascular Associates in Louisville, KY. After several tests Sean was diagnosed with Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVC) and given the clearance to train and race again with some minor lifestyle changes.

Sean, 38, resides in Jericho VT with his wife and 3 children. He is a 1992 graduate of Florida State University (Go Noles!!) and is currently a Principal with Mercer Human Resource Consulting.
